Day 2 of no Facebook

So, I did it.  For the first time since I used to "tithe" as a good little Catholic boy trying to keep my mother happy, I picked something to give up for lent.   I gave up Facebook.  (For the last 20 years or so I gave up Catholicism.  Still the best choice in my opinion.  Anyway . . .) Today will be the first full day away from it.  So far my only tie to it at all is my girlfriend Tam who tells me that many have commented on my post of leaving.  "You're the only source of news I check everyday!" so she tells me.  I felt it really was time for people to go on there own when I heard that.  I don't feel its my job anymore to educate the masses, or the few, as to what's going on.  I also felt that its been a terrible distraction.  Like most new "social" technologies it does nothing to foster being social.  It too often makes me anti-social.  Its just to easy to react with vinegar instead of honey when the person your yelling at is not anywhere near you and you will probably never see again.  Even if its deserved, I think I need to stop.  For a while.  See what happens.
